Parker Creek Recreation Area Guide

The closest Lake Greeson access point to Parker Creek Bend Cabins — swim beach, boat launch, shoreline fishing, and quiet picnic coves.

Parker Creek Recreation Area is a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers day-use and camping site on the western shore of Lake Greeson, just outside Murfreesboro, Arkansas. It's one of the quieter, more scenic access points on the lake, tucked into a protected cove with a gentle gravel-bottom swim beach, a paved single-lane boat ramp, shaded picnic areas, and a short hiking trail through pine and hardwood.

Swimming Area

The Parker Creek swim beach is the closest designated swimming area to our cabins and one of the prettiest on the lake. The gentle gravel slope makes it comfortable for kids and easy on bare feet, and because Lake Greeson is fed by the cool Little Missouri River, the water stays clearer and cooler than most Arkansas lakes well into summer. A roped-off swim zone keeps powerboats clear of swimmers, and there's shade along the edge for towels, coolers, and chairs.

Boat Launch

Parker Creek has a paved single-lane boat ramp with a courtesy dock, gravel parking, and easy access for both fishing boats and pontoons. It's an excellent put-in for kayaks and canoes too — the cove opens directly onto open water, but the launch itself stays sheltered from wind. A small day-use fee applies for vehicles parked at the ramp (waived for registered campground guests).

Shore Fishing

The rocky points and gentle shoreline around Parker Creek hold bream, crappie, and largemouth bass close to shore. Early morning and evening are best. For more variety, the Narrows Dam is about a ten-minute drive south, where the Little Missouri River tailwater is stocked with rainbow and brown trout. See our Lake Greeson Fishing Guide for seasonal patterns and tackle recommendations.

Picnic Areas, Walking & Family Recreation

Shaded picnic sites with grills and tables are scattered along the shoreline and through the trees behind the beach. A short, easy nature trail loops out from the day-use area through the pines — a nice after-dinner walk and a chance to spot deer, turkey, or bald eagles. Leashed pets are welcome. The campground loop has electric and water hookups, restrooms, and shower facilities — a setup that works equally well for a half-day visit or a long weekend.
